Huawei develops super fast charging method to charge a cellphone in under 2 minutes flat! How many times you have been desperate to recharge your dying smartphone when you are in the office or coffee shop and it takes you forever to breach 10%. This will be a thing of the past soon with Huawei's new quick-charging batteries, unveiled last week during an event (56th Battery Symposium Nagoya) in Japan.

According to the China based smartphone company, the lithium-ion batteries can charge up to 10x faster than normal batteries and can reach 50% capacity in 5 minutes.

On the video that Huawei showed in the event, they presented videos of 2 fast-charging power packs. The first is a 600mAh capacity battery, which can be charged to 68% in 2 minutes. The other one is a 3,000mAh battery that can be charge to 48% in 5 minutes. This will get you up to 10 hours of calls on Huawei phones.

The batteries were built by Watt Lab—part of the Central Research Institute at China's Huawei Technology Corporation. The batteries allow for an increased charging rate without decreasing energy density or long-term battery life.

This will be a game changer according to Huawei. The breakthrough with the quick-charging batteries will lead to a new revolution in electronic devices from mobile smartphones, electric vehicles, wearable devices, and mobile power supplies.

However, Huawei did not give any date on when will they offer the new batteries for commercial use.
