Digital Life Awards 2015: Best overall smartphone, android smartphone, phablet, and games

A Singaporean technology newspaper which is distributed with The Straits Times every Wednesday has chosen the best overall smartphone, android smartphone, phablet and games on the market. Samsung and Sony got seven (7) awards each. Samsung took the awards on mobile devices, while Sony dominates the tablet, camera, and audio categories. Apple got six (6) awards for its smartphone and tablet.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 4G+ is a clear winner for the Best Overall Smartphone since it has the best performing Android platform and it also has top notch features available and it is the most desirable device available on the market. It has 5.7-inch quad high-definition display, a 16-megapixel camera and a software that maximize hardware performance to produce some of the best images ever captured on a smartphone.

Google Stopped the Sale of Google Glass

Surprisingly Google stopped the sale of their Google Glass smart eye-wear, they promise that they are planning a new version that is consumer-friendly in the future. The experimental Google Glass went on sale last year at $1500.

The Google Glass provides information to its user like directions, weather and other contextual data. The user can also use the camera integrated in the device to take photos and video clips. Google said that the Glass project will still continue with development continuing towards the creation of a viable consumer product.

Google didn't give any information on when the next version will be available.

“January 19 will be the last day to get the Glass Explorer Edition. In the meantime, we’re continuing to build for the future, and you’ll start to see future versions of Glass when they’re ready.”

Smartphone Battery That Can Recharge in Less than 2 Minutes

We all hate it when our smartphone ran out of battery since most of us are heavy smartphone users specially when we use it playing games and watching movie. Here's some good news, a start up company based in Israel invented a battery that can be fully charged in less than 2 minutes. However, the battery only lasts about 5 hours.

StoreDot, the nanotech startup behind the charger showcase their prototype using a Samsung Galaxy S5 by invitation only on the Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in Las Vegas, California. During the demo, the Samsung Galaxy S5 battery was almost empty and it recharges to 100% in less than 2 minutes.

The company said that they are already meeting with leading Smartphone companies and they are aiming to release the product in 2017.

Sony's Very Pricey Walkman $1,200 Unveiled At CES

Las Vegas, Nevada – At the 2015 CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, Sony unveiled their latest version of the Walkman (NW-ZX2) which is priced at $1,200. The improved model will definitely have a better sound and technology compared to the Sony Walkman of the 1980s. The device run on Android with a touchscreen display. It supports high resolution audio playback and is wired for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC.

The company said that if you connect the Sony Walkman NW-ZX2 to a top-of-the-line headphones or speakers, the S-Master HX processor will give the highest of high-definition sound. It said that the device has 60 hours of music playback with its lithium-ion battery, 128GB of memory, and expandable storage using a microSD slot.

It is expected to be released sometime this spring.
